Draft — not yet reviewed by a lawyer. Tandem is in early testing with people we know. This text says plainly how we work today; it will change after a lawyer reviews it, and we will tell you before it does.
Privacy Policy
Draft of November 5, 2026
This page says what Tandem collects, why, who helps us run the service, how long we keep it and what you can ask of us.
Who we are
Tandem runs the service and decides how the data in it is used to run it. For the records a company keeps about its own drivers, investors and partners, the company decides and Tandem processes them on its behalf.
What we collect
Only what Tandem needs to work:
- Your account: name, work email, a password (stored only as a hash) and your language.
- Your company: its name, its MC and USDOT numbers, its LLCs, members, roles, trucks, trailers, drivers and partners, as your people enter them. Sensitive numbers (CDL, tax, bank and EIN numbers) are encrypted.
- FMCSA's public data about carriers and brokers: registration, authority, safety records and the contact email FMCSA has on file, read when you look up or claim a number.
- Documents you upload: rate confirmations, BOLs, PODs, qualification files and, for a manual MC check, a photo of an owner's ID and one company paper.
- Rate confirmations sent to an AI service to be read, and what it read, so a person can check it.
- Lanes and stops you evaluate or book, sent to a maps service to plan the route, tolls and fuel.
- Emails we send you (sign-up and claim codes, invites, reminders) and whether they went out.
- Technical records: sign-in sessions, the address a request came from, and logs of what changed and who changed it.
How we use it
To run Tandem for your company: sign you in, keep your records, estimate loads, read rate confirmations, check carrier claims, send the emails the service needs and keep the service secure. We do not sell your data, show ads or use your company's data to build products for others.
The AI that reads rate confirmations
When you drop a rate confirmation into the inbox, Tandem sends the file and a few of the same broker's earlier corrected examples to Anthropic, whose Claude models read it. Anthropic processes it for us under its commercial terms, which do not let it train its models on this content. A person on your side checks every field before a load is made.
Who helps us run Tandem
These services process data for us, each only for its part:
- Contabo — the server and its storage, in St. Louis, USA.
- Anthropic — reads rate confirmations (the file and the broker's earlier examples).
- HERE Technologies — maps, truck routes, tolls and finding places from the stops you type; it never receives a rate confirmation.
- Google (Gmail) — delivers Tandem's emails during testing; Amazon Web Services (SES) will replace it.
- The US Census Bureau's geocoder — turns street addresses into map points.
When we share
Only with the services above, with the members of your own company as their roles allow, with the FMCSA contact email when a claim is proved (a notice that the number was claimed), and when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep data only as long as it serves:
- Your account, while you use Tandem; we delete it when you ask, unless the law needs a record kept.
- Your company's records and documents, until the company deletes them or leaves Tandem and asks us to delete them.
- Route detail from HERE, at most 30 days unless the load was booked.
- The ID photo of a manual MC check, deleted for good as soon as the check is decided.
- Sign-up and claim codes, 15 minutes; an unfinished sign-up, deleted soon after.
- Security and change logs, as long as needed to keep the service safe and answer disputes.
Security
Every connection is encrypted, sensitive numbers are encrypted at rest, each company's data is kept apart in the database itself, and sign-in tokens never reach the page. No system is perfect: if a breach touches your data, we will tell you.
What you can ask
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, and ask what we hold about you. Data a company keeps about its drivers or partners is the company's: ask the company first, and we will help it answer.
Changes to this page
We will tell you by email or in Tandem before a change to how we use your data takes effect.
